Schnarr, Robert - Morton  
Robert Schnarr MORTON – Robert O. "Bob" Schnarr, 80, of Morton, passed away at 11:43 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Peoria, to Harold and Josephine (Howe) Schnarr. He married Elizabeth Cookman on Aug. 10, 1957, in Mason City, Iowa. Surviving are his wife, Liz Schnarr of Morton; one son, Jay Schnarr of East Peoria; one daughter, Susan Schnarr Baker (Dave Chastain) of Deer Creek; three grandchildren, David (Tina), Benjamin and Brandon; and four siblings, Harold (Sharon) Schnarr of St. Paul, Minn., Dorothy (Ervin) Bretz of San Jose, Calif., Mary Lee (Brian) Clegg of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Steve (Sue) Schnarr of Afton, Minn. He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard. Bob was a United States Army Veteran, having served from 1958 to 1960. Bob graduated with a degree in pharmacy in 1957 from Drake University. He owned and operated Morton Village Pharmacy for 37 years; retiring in Aug. of 2003. He was a member and past president of Central Illinois Pharmacy Association. He was also a member of the Illinois Pharmacy Association serving as past president, chairman of the board and speaker of the house for 25 years. A funeral service will held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Grace Church in Morton, with Pastor Doug Habegger officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 27, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, followed by a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Further visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Skocaj, Raymond - Pekin  
Raymond Skocaj PEKIN - Raymond Louis Skocaj, 85, of Pekin passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home. He was born in Cleveland, OH, to Joseph and Karolina Mezgec Skocaj on July 4, 1930. He married Amelia Joan Tramte at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Cleveland on April 29, 1950. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2005. Also preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Joe; and infant son, Raymond. He is survived by his children, Barbara (Don) Hanck of Huron, OH, Nancy (Greg) Wheeler of Pekin, Joan (Troy) Thomas of Woodstock, IL, and Richard (Lori) Skocaj, Michael Skocaj and Raymond (Shelley) Skocaj, all of Pekin; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Ray was a regional manger for Krogers, where he started working in 1946, and worked until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Moose and the Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight from 1988 to 1989 and District Deputy from 1992 to 1993. He also was active in the Wrestling Boosters Club and Junior Achievement. Ray was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where in the past served as a Eucharist Minister and was on the Finance Committee. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 21, at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Fr. Michael Andrejek will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or Church. Abts Mortuary has been entrusted with his arrangements. Smith, Christopher R. - Peoria  
Christopher R. Smith PEORIA - Christopher R. Smith, 43, of Peoria, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Christopher was born on December 9, 1972 in Peoria, a son of Edward F. and Rita K. (VanTreese) Smith. He married Cynthia A. "Cindy" Burson on March 24, 2015 in Peoria. She survives. He is also survived by his parents, of Washington; stepson, Dillon J. Berhenke of Creve Coeur; stepdaughter, Jennifer M. Hauschild of Naperville; brother, Phil (Julie) Smith of East Peoria; nieces, Juliet and Samantha; nephew, Christian; and in-laws, Lewis and Georgianna Burson of Orion. He loved animals and enjoyed walking his dogs, Blue, Zeus and his service dog, Jack. Christopher was a painter for Caterpillar at their SS facility in East Peoria. He was formerly employed with Export Packaging in East Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Smith, Wayne - East Peoria  
Wayne Smith EAST PEORIA - Robert "Wayne" Smith, 77, of East Peoria passed away at his home at 9 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born April 13, 1939, in Kewanee, IL, to Arthur F. and E. Catherine Lanpher Smith. He married Mary M. Halley on June 18, 1965, in Peoria, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Sheila (Martin) Field, Stacey Shaw, Franklin Smith; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings. Wayne worked for the I.B. E.W. Local 51 before retiring. He enjoyed and was active with Campers on a Mission. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Illinois CancerCare. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morton, 900 East Jefferson Street, Morton, IL 61550, where the family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton with Rev. Gary England officiating. Following the service at the cemetery, all are invited to join the family back at the church at noon to share in food and fellowship and celebrate Wayne's life. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Snyder, Donna - Peoria  
Donna Snyder PEORIA – Donna Snyder, 72 of Peoria, IL passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was born July 14, 1943, in San Antonio, TX to Don and Opal (Wehrle) Snyder, formerly of Mayfield, KY, who are predeceased. Surviving are her sisters, Karen (Kenneth) Herndon of Arlington, KY and Linda May of Wilson, NC; niece, Christy Herndon (Keith) Crider of Arlington; nephews, Michael (Masherra) Herndon of Paducah, KY and Eric Cofoid of Wilson; 3 great nieces; 3 great nephews and her beloved cat, Sugar. Donna graduated from Mayfield High School in 1961. She received a BS in Art from Murray State University; a MS in School Administration from SIU-Edwardsville and her certification in Special Education from Illinois State University. She was employed for many years by the Department of Defense teaching art at military bases in Japan, the Philippines, and Germany. She also taught art in Highland, IL; Caruthersville, MO; Tell City, IN; Lawton, MI; Pekin, IL and Peoria. She last taught at Whittier Primary School. Since retiring in 2003, she has enjoyed cheering for her beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Cremation has been accorded by Schmidt-Haller Burial & Cremation Services in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, please contribute money or food to any local animal shelter in Donna's name and memory.
