Zavadowsky, Peter - Chicago  
PEORIA HEIGHTS - Dr. Peter C. Zavadowsky, age 79, of Chicago passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Heights Healthcare in Peoria Heights. Peter was born on July 29, 1935, in Chicago to Peter Anthony and Josephine (Skach) Zavadowsky. Surviving are his daughters, Catherine (John) Mannaioni of Peoria, Ill., and Mary Patricia Hartmann of Dunlap, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Mannaioni. He was preceded in death by his parents. Peter graduated in 1957 from St. Mary of the Lake Seminary, Mundelein, Ill., with a B.A. in Scholastic Philosophy. He pursued further theological studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Vatican City, earning an S.T.B. in 1959 and an S.T.L. in 1961. He was ordained on Dec. 18, 1960, and served as a parish priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago for 10 years. After receiving a dispensation in 1970, he worked in the McHenry School District. In 1978, Peter received a Ph.D. from Loyola University in Chicago. At the end of his career, he served in the Cicero Public Schools as a psychologist and teacher. Peter was also an accomplished pianist, frequent traveler and lay minister in his local parish. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Monsignor Stanley Deptula will be officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and interment will be in Mary Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Ill., at a later date. Ziebold, Lois  
PEKIN - Lois O. Ziebold, 94, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away at 8:54 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at DeSoto Palms Assisted Living Community in Sarasota, Fla. She was formerly of Pekin. Born July 26, 1920, in Forest City, Ill., to Jesse James and Velma Viola (Emmons) Curry, she married Robert John Ziebold on June 25, 1938, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died March 27, 2011, in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lt. Col. Ronald J. Ziebold, USAF (Retired) on April 26, 2007. Surviving are one son, John Ziebold of Pekin; one daughter, Roberta (Lou) Schaumleffel of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren, J. Christopher (Catherine) Ziebold and M. Scott (Brenda) Ziebold, both of Allen, Texas, and Christine (Ward) Wagenseller of Poway, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Robert Wagenseller, James Wagenseller and Zachary Ziebold; three stepgranddaughters, Theresa (Steve) Lombardo of Columbus, Ohio, Debbie Henrichs of Pekin and Susan (Jeff) Mowbray of Dunlap; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Allison Henrichs, Nathan Lombardo, Taylor Mowbray and Lauren Mowbray; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ziebold of Allen, Texas. Bob and Lois graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1937. Lois was a longtime employee of Herget Bank, N.A., in Pekin. During their almost 73-year marriage, they traveled extensively to all 50 states, Mexico, Canada, South America, British Isles and mainland Europe. Lois was a civic-minded person and was active in numerous community organizations including Pekin Women's Club, William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 Ladies Auxiliary, Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 Ladies Auxiliary, Pekin YWCA Reserves, Pekin Hospital Auxiliary, Altrusa and the Friends of the Library. Bob and Lois had been involved with the Pekin Winter Wonderland from the beginning in 1987 and were honored as the 2007 Grand Marshals for the event. They were in charge of the activities at the Park Pavilion for the first six years. She and her husband were also awarded the "Others Award" in 1984 by the Salvation Army in Pekin. A graveside funeral will be held this summer in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. There will be no visitation.
