Hale, Roscoe W. - Pekin  
Roscoe W. Hale PEKIN ~ Roscoe W. Hale, 86, of Pekin, passed away at 3:43 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Pekin Manor. Born Sept. 28, 1929 in Norwood, NY to Roscoe W. and Jannie (Thompson) Hale, he married Sue Petersen on Feb. 16, 1964 in Sabula, IA. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Janie (Sam) Rainey of Clinton and Kelly (Garrett VanDyke) Rosenblatt of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Evelyn Dwyer of Canton, NY and Geraldine Laurence of Bradenton, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and seven sisters. Roscoe was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pekin. He had served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He worked for Eagle Food Center for 30 years as a District Meat Supervisor, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. His funeral will be held at 7 p.m. following the visitation. Rev. Stephen D. Barnes will officiate. Private burial will be in The Hale Cemetery in Potsdam, NY, where military honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Illinois Chapter at 612 W. Glen Ave. Peoria, IL 61614. Heitz, Eloise - Cuba  
Eloise Heitz CUBA - Eloise E. Heitz, 87, of rural Cuba passed away at 5:42 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Clayberg Nursing Home in Cuba. She was born July 27, 1928, in Rushville, the daughter of Walter and Lena (Juett) Phillips. She married Roy L. Heitz on August 2, 1949, at Palmyra, MO. He died August 27, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Michael Cowser. Surviving are one son, Richard (Marcia) Heitz of Cuba; two daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Cowser of Bradford and Dianna (Gary) Graham of Canton; one brother, Robert (Shirley) Phillips of Rushville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eloise was a farm wife. She was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with the Reverend Kenneth Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cuba United Methodist Church or the Clayberg Nursing Home. Hoskins, Gertrude - Chillicothe  
Gertrude Hoskins CHILLICOTHE - Gertrude Ann Hoskins of Chillicothe, Illinois, died at Evergreen Assisted Living in Chillicothe, Illinois, on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Born June 7, 1927, in Putnam County to Bertha C. Bogner and William F. Wolf in McNabb, Illinois, Ann married Thomas C. Hoskins on November 19, 1959. He died July 21, 1978. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Wolf; and a sister, Katie Breen. Surviving are her nephews, Tom (Linda) Breen, Jerry (Pam) Breen, Patrick Breen and Mike (Maureen) Wolf; nieces, Mary (Byron) Underwood, Beth (the late Dan) Bakel, Margie (Bob) Roach and Lee (Larry) Olesen; and a sister-in-law, Pat Wolf. Ann graduated from Henry High School in 1946 and attended Browns Business College in Peoria, Illinois, and Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Illinois. She was employed with Central Illinois Light Company for over 40 years, retiring in 1994, having worked at locations in Lacon, Chillicothe and Peoria. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church, their choir and past president of the Liturgy team, Cursillo, Beginning Experience, Churp and Clown Ministry. She was also a member of the Cilco Girls Club and Quarter Century Club of Cilco and past director of Altrusa Club in Chillicothe, where she received a 50-year pin in September of 2015. She was a member of the Lacon Country Club and Pearce Community Center. Ann had also been a volunteer at Proctor Hospital. A memorial mass at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Illinois, will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. Private graveside services will be at St. Mary's Mt. Palatine Cemetery in McNabb, Illinois, at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Edward's Catholic Church in Chillicothe, Illinois.
