Lansford Sr., John - Elmwood  
YATES CITY - John W. Lansford Sr., 64, of Yates City passed away at 4:11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born on Jan. 10, 1951, in Peoria to Kenneth E. Sr. and Betty (Sheber) Lansford. He married Sandra VanWinkle on Nov. 8, 1969, in Fountain Green, Ill. She survives. He also is survived by his parents of Peoria; two children, John W. Lansford Jr. of Nashville, Ill., and Terry R. Lansford of Yates City; two brothers, Kenneth E. Jr. (Patty) Lansford of Florida and Terry L. Lansford of Chillicothe; and two grandchildren, Adam Wesley Lansford and Chelsea Nicole Lansford, both of Arizona. John was a construction worker. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood is in charge of arrangements.

LeRoy, Dorothy - Peoria  
PEORIA - Dorothy Lee LeRoy, 82, of Peoria passed away at 11:28 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at her residence. She was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Atlanta, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Adella Hammitt Dreher. She married Roger V. LeRoy on March 2, 1951. He preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2013. Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Stephen (Catherine) LeRoy of Havana, Gregory (Angie) LeRoy of East Peoria and Jeffrey (Marydale) LeRoy of Peoria; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara J. Dreher of Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Alix Rachel. Dorothy was the office manager at Bradley University Bookstore until her retirement. She was a member of West Bluff Christian Church. She enjoyed fishing, antiques and rock collecting. She was also involved with Rocky Glen Restoration. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Pastor Russell Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to PAWS or the American Lung Association. Linsley, Rosa - Bartonville  
PEORIA - Rosa L. Linsley, 92, of Peoria, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, in Peoria, Ill. She was born on May 27, 1923, to Adolph and Alma (Fragel) Fisher. Rosa was married on March 22, 1947, to Robert J. Linsley. Surviving are one child, Dennis (Leslie Stoens) Linsley, and one daughter-in-law, Patti Linsley of Peoria; two grandchildren, Ryan (Katlyn) Linsley and Jay Linsley; and one great-grandchild, Dawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two children, Robert B. Linsley and Carol Ann Linsley. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Raymond Fisher; and two sisters, Isabell Adams and Bertha Morse. In 1933, at age 10, Rosa played with the Farrow (Little) Chickens. She moved to the big team in 1938 at age 15 at second base. The Farrow Chix were state champions in 1939 and advanced to the national tournament at Soldier Field in Chicago. She played one more year with the Chix. In 1941, she started playing for the Cat Dieselettes. She played for Cat from 1941 to 1946. Rosa's father, "Shug," was coach and then manager in 1943, leading the team to a fourth successive state championship and regional title in Fort Wayne, Ind., with a national tournament appearance. She played one more year in 1946 with the Laramie Street Coalettes, a spin-off of the Farrow Chix. While with the Chix in 1939, at age of 16, then Commissioner Baumgarden called her "the best woman second baseman he had ever seen" and he was entering her into the Hall of Fame of Illinois. While with Caterpillar, she was offered a contract to play in the women's Professional Baseball League with the Rockford Peaches. Rosa also participated in several bowling leagues and tournaments. She retired to become a wife and mother. She enjoyed watching her two sons and grandsons play sports. Later in life she enjoyed visits with her new great-grandson, Dawson, watching the Cubs and Bears on TV. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bartonville, with Father David Heinz officiating. Visitation will be held today, Sept. 1, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, with scripture reading at 4:15 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Illinois Alzheimer's Association or St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Linwood, Corey - Peoria  
PEORIA - Mr. Corey DeMarco Renard Linwood, 29, formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 4:47 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, in Houston, Texas. Corey was born Sept. 13, 1985, in Peoria, Ill., to Clifton Linwood Jr. and Patricia Berry. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Forest Hill United Methodist Church, with a visitation at 9 a.m. Host Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Curt Keller, and the Rev. Melvin McAfee will officiate. Corey will be laid to rest in historical Springdale Cemetery. Simons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Love, Frances - Peoria  
PEORIA - Frances Beverly Love, 84, of Peoria passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, in her home, with her family by her side, and left to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Fordville, N.D., to Henry and Loretta Lewis. She married Michael Love on April 5, 1969, and he survives. Also surviving are her three children, Rob (Catherine) Edmundson of Edwards, Ill., Barbara Palmer of Charlotte, N.C., and William Edmundson of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Duane Lewis of Gardner, Ill.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Lewis; sisters, Lorraine Granger and Catherine Hansen; and grandson, Justin Zuk. Upon graduating from high school in Grand Forks, N.D., she moved to Gardner, Ill., and later to Morris, Ill., where she lived for 18 years and raised her children. She then moved to Riverside, Calif., and later to Visalia, Calif., where she and her husband lived for 38 years and she worked as executive secretary at the Visalia Consolidated School District. In 2006, she relocated to Peoria to be closer to family. Frances will forever be remembered as a generous, loving and caring person, where family and faith were most important. She was a nurturer at heart and cared for all those that needed her support. She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Visalia and Grace and Peace Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she was very active in her service to Christ, both in the church body and in the community. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but leaves memories and virtues of love, strength and family values with each life she touched. Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11:30 a.m. at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church, 7611 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Grace and Peace Lutheran Church.

PEORIA - Mr. Quenton "Q" Demarco Lowe, 21, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, in Peoria, Ill. Quenton was born Feb. 4, 1994, in Peoria, Ill., to Arthur and Laginia (Jamison) Lowe. Quenton is survived by his parents; his daughter, Ki'Yah Lowe; his grandmother, Betty Blocker; three brothers, Arthur, Timothy and Malik Lowe; and three sisters, Kanieca, Kimberly and LeeAnne Lowe, all of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene Thompson, Elizabeth Moore and Johnnie Jamison. A 2012 graduate of Manual High School, he was a member of the basketball team. He attended and played basketball at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Ill., and Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Ill. He worked at Kroger as a cashier and last worked at McDonald's as a cook. Quenton was a member of Kingdom Temple C.O.G.I.C., where he was active in the Youth Men of Integrity & Youth Department. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Church of the Living God, Temple 130, with visitation at 10 a.m. Vice Chief Bishop Leroy Smith is the host pastor. Elder Adrian Patterson will officiate and Bishop Embra Patterson will eulogize. Quenton will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery. Simons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
