BRADFORD - Alma L. Darnell, 78, of Onalaska, Wis., formerly of Bradford, Ill., passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Bradford to Edwin and Velma (McLane) Hodges. Alma married James E. Darnell on April 28, 1957, in Peoria. He survives in Onalaska, Wis.
Also surviving are a son, Scott (Kathy) Darnell of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughter, Cindy Darnell of Joliet, Ill.; grandson, Eric Smith of Joliet, Ill.; sister, Helen Barton of Wyoming, Ill.; two brothers, Clarence (Raylene) Hodges of Toulon, Ill., and John Hodges of Wyoming, Ill.; two nephews, Bruce Barton of Kewanee, Ill., and Brent Hodges of Toulon, Ill.; two nieces, Ruth (Bruce) Lang of Galva, Ill., and Brenda (Elton) Hodges-Suitts of DeKalb, Ill.; several great-nieces and -nephews; and one great-great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Charles Barton; and sister-in-law, Sharon Hodges.
Alma graduated from Princeville High School in 1954. She worked as a receptionist for New York Life in Peoria, Ill. She later worked at Prospect Bank in Peoria Heights as a teller and bookkeeper.
She was a member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Ill., and then transferred to North Presbyterian Church in La Crosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Scott Skogen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery in Bradford, Ill.
