PEORIA - Betty Lorraine Sackman, 81, of Peoria passed away peacefully at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, with her daughter beside her, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013.
Betty was born on Aug. 5, 1931. She married Leonard O. Sackman on March 9, 1957.
She is survived by one son, Leonard O. (Gina) Sackman; one daughter, Lana S. (Sam) Pasco; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike) Meier, Breanna Purcell, Donita Purcell, Brian Sackman, Betty Roos and Leonard O. Sackman III; two sisters, Jean Johnson and Deloris Gorman; and best lifelong friend, Helen, Helen, Helen, which started in early grade school; as well as 13 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard O. Sackman; parents, Leonard and Mildred Sloan; as well as a daughter, Linda L. Bonati; a son, Larry G. Sackman; and a grandson, Tony L. Bonati.
Betty owned and operated Cinderella's Beauty Salon for many years before she retired in 1990.
She held memberships in the following: Illinois Hairdresser's Association; the Peoria Salon Owners Association; Elk's Emblem Club, Lodge 20, in Peoria, for more than 30 years; as well as the Sigma Chi Sorority.
Betty was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, never missing a game. Playing cards, going to the movies and the Elk's Club every Friday night were her favorite pastimes. Betty loved to entertain and be entertained. She was a very loving, caring and kind person to family, friends and even strangers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at The Wilton Mortuary, 2101 N. Knoxville Ave. Pastor Stephen Barnes will officiate. Visitation will be at 1 p.m.
