MAPLETON - Bobby G. Gilliam, 72, of Mapleton, formerly of Canton, passed away at 11:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Bobby was born March 26, 1941, in Owsley County, Ky., the son of Tom and Grace Williams Gilliam. He married Patricia Comfort Rindfleisch in Peoria on Dec. 9, 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years; one daughter, Susan Gilliam of Bushnell; two sons, James Lee (Robin) Gilliam and Robert Gene (Trish) Gilliam, both of Pikeville, Ky.; five stepsons, Ricky Dean Boyd of Pikeville, Ky., Franklin D. (Gayle) Rindfleisch of Bartonville, A. Michael Rindfleisch of Orlando, Fla., Theodore J. (Sue) Rindfleisch of West Peoria and Dominic L. (Robyn) Rindfleisch of Glasford; one brother, James (Sue) Gilliam of Monroe, Mich.; two sisters, Diana Lenox of Pikeville, Ky., and Brenda Owens, of Taylor, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willis; and one sister, Lois Ann Young.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Bobby worked at DeGussa (formerly Sherex) for 34 years as an industrial wastewater treatment works operator.
Bobby was a quiet man who loved his family, fishing, gardening and playing the guitar.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Pastor Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Cremation rites will be accorded.
