MORTON - Carl L. Meadows, 71, of Morton and Las Vegas, Nev., died at 6:28 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 29, 1941, in Taylorville, Ill., to William M. and Lola M. (Dobson) Meadows. He married Carol A. Cumerlato on Aug. 7, 1965, in Kincaid, Ill.
Surviving are his wife of Morton; one daughter, Candee (Todd) Krueger of Morton; one son, Ricky (Theresa) Meadows of Springfield; five grandchildren, Mollie, Thomas and Sophia Krueger and Lola and Ricky Meadows Jr.; one sister, Carol (Gene) Bourlard of Vonore, Tenn.; and two brothers, William (Marie) Meadows of Auburn, Ill., and Jerry Knoerr of Kincaid.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Carl worked at Commonwealth Edison at the Kincaid Station near Springfield for 28 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Sun City Summerlin Softball Association in Las Vegas, Nev., and American Legion Post 905 in Kincaid.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. His joys in life were spending as much time as possible with his five grandchildren and playing and competing in softball leagues.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, followed by a celebration of life service at 5 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating.
