YATES CITY - Carl Miars, 67, of Yates City passed away at 6:07 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on July 16, 1946, in Peoria to John "Pete" and Susie Newman Miars. They preceded him in death. He married Beverly Cox on May 13, 1966, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Brian (Lisa) Miars of Yates City, Ken (Jeffrey Ratkovich) Miars of Elmwood and Kristin (Rodney) Grubb of Farmington; three brothers, Kenny (Debbie) Miars of Yates City, John (Marlene) Miars of Glasford and Charles (Janet) Miars of Chillicothe; two sisters, Pat (Ron) Brooks of Tremont and Teresa Meservey of Princeville; three grandchildren, Dravin, Dalein and Keylon; and two great-grandchildren, Kouper and Julianna.
Carl worked for CMS, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of the Douglas United Methodist Church and the Yates City Masonic Lodge.
He enjoyed fishing, in his spare time, and spending time with his family and always made them laugh with his jokes.
A visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Yates City Cemetery.
