CANTON - Charles "Frank" McCartney, 64, of Canton passed away at 8:38 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1949, in Harrisonburg, Va., to Charles E. and Frieda P. Karmenzind McCartney. He married Julia C. Peno on Aug. 1, 1998, in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his children from a previous marriage, Jodi (James) Baker of Farmington, Shawn (Rae-Lynn) McCartney of St. David and Brandi (Tom) Oldfield of Farmington; one sister, Deborah Nelson of Canton; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Chase, Arick, Cameron, Daniel, Gracie and Abigail; and one great-grandchild, Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Shelby; two brothers; and two sisters.
Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 979.
He worked as the head driver for the Headstart Program.
He was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, with a funeral Mass on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton. Burial with military honors will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
