GRANVILLE - Charles E. Tevis, 84, of Granville passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare in Henry, Ill.
He had served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Chuck was born June 17, 1928, in Goodfield, Ill., the son of Carl B. and Lucy (Taylor) Tevis. He married Shirley Ann Quiram on April 16, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Benson, Ill.
She survives along with three sons, Gary and Mary Tevis of Arkansas, Trent (and Sue) Tevis and Dave (and Annetta) Tevis, both of Granville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Herb Arbuckle. Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Hanck, Mamie Hunt, Barb Lippett, Lucy Cormeir, Shirley Eaves and Caroline Byzewski.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sheila Arbuckle; grandson, Joshua Tevis; granddaughter, Amy Jo Arbuckle; and four sisters, Eveline Hedburg, Idella Truitt, Violet Phillips and Clara Bonomo.
Mr. Tevis was owner of 4-T Agri in Granville for 35 years.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru, former Cub Scout Leader, summer baseball coach, served as past president of the Granville Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Member. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Peru, Ill.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville with the Rev. Tim Kenyon of St. Johns. Visitation will be on Thursday form 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
