Charles Wolgemuth

GERMANTOWN HILLS - Charles F. Wolgemuth Jr., 71, died at 4:10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist.

He was born in Peoria on July 3, 1941, to Charles F. and Mary Crilly Wolgemuth Sr.

His father and one daughter, Kimberly Hand, preceded him in death.

His mother survives.

Charles is also survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Rhonda Prather; two sons, Scott (Tina) Wolgemuth of Barrow, Alaska, and Christopher (Veronica) Wolgemuth of Pekin; three daughters, Lori Betson of Washington and Jamie Wolgemuth and Ashely (Mike) Thompson of Germantown Hills; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Charles was a police officer for 21 years, serving with the Peoria County Sheriff's Department, and also worked for 24 years as a laborer for Aupperle and Sons Construction Co. He was the owner of Wolgemuth Lawn and Ground Maintenance Inc. He was a member of Laborers International Local 165.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. Deacon Martin Pogioli will officiate. Visitation will be held at the mortuary from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, and also 30 minutes prior to the services on Wednesday. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial of ashes will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TAPS of Pekin or ARK Shelter in Lacon, both of which are no-kill shelters.
