David Elmore

peoria - David L. Elmore, 78, of Peoria died at 12:03 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 23, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1934, in Nokomis, Ill., to Maurice and Goldie Elmore. He married Betty Lou Smith in 1960.

He is survived by two sons, Terry (Violet) Elmore of Washington, and Mark (Carolyn) Elmore of Mackinaw; one daughter, Sheila (Steven) Elmore-McCornack of Aurora, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one brother Richard Elmore, of East Peoria.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, James Ray Elmore, and his parents.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.

David worked 32 years at Cat in East Peoria as a final inspector of machinery. He last worked in 1984. He was an active member of ABATE and volunteered at Wildlife Prairie Park in Peoria.

There will be a funeral service for David on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Howard Love will officiate. Private burial will take place in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
