Dorothy Fleisher

PEORIA - Dorothy (Marvos) Fleisher, 89, of Peoria passed away at 4:57 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Independence Village.

Born on Jan. 28, 1924, in Peoria to Guy and Mary (Wyzlic) Marvos, she married James L. Fleisher on Oct. 7, 1950. He died on July 12, 1974.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Martha Reeser; an infant brother; and one stepson, James Fleisher.

She is survived by her nephew, Craig Reeser of Metamora; one stepson, Robert Fleisher; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Dorothy worked as a policy services data processing administrator for Auto Owners Insurance Company, where she retired on June 1, 1988, after 39 years of service.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Catholic Women's League and the Women's Guild of her church. She was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Commission on Education.

Dorothy was a volunteer at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, the Susan Komen Race for the Cure and the American Red Cross Disaster, working Hurricane Andrew and the Ridgecrest, Calif., earthquake. She was also a platelet and blood donor at the Red Cross.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded, and burial of cremains will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
