HANNA CITY - Dorothy A. LaFollette, age 89, of Hanna City passed away at her home and went to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1923, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to John H. and Mary (Levell) Smith. She married Arthur "Bud" LaFollette in Peoria on March 21, 1943. He passed away Sept. 18, 1983, in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are one son, John A. (Kay) LaFollette of Hanna City; and five grandchildren, David (Yvonne) LaFollette of Farmington, Denise (Rupert) Winston of Hanna City, Dorothy M. LaFollette of Hanna City, John A. (Shelley) LaFollette of Decatur and Patrick (Mary) LaFollette of Baton Rouge, La. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to be a homemaker. She prayed faithfully for her family and friends on a daily basis. Rejoice for she is now reunited with her husband and family in heaven, but most of all she is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Hanna City.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church in Peoria, Peoria Rescue Mission or South Side Mission in Peoria.
