Douglas Albrecht

PEORIA - Douglas V. Albrecht, 63, of Peoria passed away at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, in Peoria Heights.

He was born Nov. 4, 1947, in Peoria to Francis J. and Edith M. (Stengle) Albrecht. He married Wendy M. Laicoff on June 3, 2006, in Princeville. She survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Beverly (Douglas) Mating of Dunlap; aunt and uncle, Richard (Evelyn) Bonomo of Princeville and uncle, Arnold (Doris) Albrecht of Yankton, S.D.; stepchildren, Derek (Sarah) Ladgenski of Wheaton, Ill., and Lacey (Andy) Charles of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; stepgrandchildren, Jameson, Carter, Maddux, Dawson, Grace, Vivian, Emma and Quinn; and one niece, Alexandra Mating of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Wesley V. Albrecht.

Doug was an Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion.

He received his associate degree from ICC.

Doug retired as an analyst from the Caterpillar Mossville plant after many years of service and was a member of Cat Retirees. He then went back to work as an analyst for Gray Interplant in Peoria.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.

He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a karate brown belt studying under Wittekiends Midwest Martial Arts.

Doug was a member and volunteer for Grace Presbyterian Church and attended Northwoods Community Church.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Grace Presbyterian Church with a celebration of life to follow. The Rev. Dr. Ben Johnston will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Woolsey-Wilton is in charge of arrangements.
