Elvin Jacob

PEKIN - Elvin George "Jake" Jacob, 85, of Pekin passed away at 8:56 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his home.

Born March 4, 1929, in Mason County to Ernest Felix and Edith Nellie (Hilst) Jacob, he married Nancy Lee Crisler on March 3, 1973, in Peoria. She died Aug. 7, 1998, in Pekin.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Lee Jacob; one sister, Lois Edith Wolfe; and one half sister.

Surviving are two brothers, Kenneth F. Jacob of Creve Coeur and Glenn E. (Sheila) Jacob of Pekin; one sister, Arlene R. (Huey) White of Pekin; four half brothers; three half sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Jake was a 50-year and life member of the Carpenters Union in Pekin.

He had been a member of the Pekin Family Moose Center 916 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1869 in Pekin. He also was an honorary member of the Pekin Amvets Post 235 and the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232.

His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. There will be no visitation.

Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.
