Frances Durbin

TOULON - Frances "Franny" Howell Durbin, 96, of Toulon passed away at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Franny was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Stark County, the daughter of Levi Ray and Helen Rosine Howell. She married John Bernard Durbin in 1936 in Toulon. He died in 1996.

Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Michael) Pyell of Toulon; four grandchildren, Kelly Durbin, Valerie Durbin, Susan (Johnel) Krans Taylor and Stefanie Krans Musselman; and two great-grandsons, Johnel Taylor II and Zade Musselman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ron Durbin; one brother, Raymond Howell; and two great-grandsons, Trace and Jason.

Franny was a deputy county clerk and recorder for Stark County for 50 years.

She was a badge honoree for the Toulon Old Settler's Association and loved to play cards. Franny also loved elephants because she was a die-hard Republican. The most important thing to Franny was her family.

She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and the Toulon American Legion Auxiliary 416.

Franny was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church in Toulon, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014. The Rev. Wayne McLeod will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the church. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church in Toulon or the Toulon American Legion Auxiliary 416.
