WASHBURN - Francis "Frank" Montgomery, 85, of Washburn passed away at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1928, in Joliet, the son of William H. and Ida J. Moulton Montgomery.
Surviving are two brothers, George (Beverly) Montgomery of Washburn and Raymond Montgomery of Cazenovia. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Two sisters, Wanda and Ruth; two brothers, Walter and Harold; as well as two wives, Geraldine Nutter and Carol Scott, preceded him in death.
Frank was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He resided in Washburn for most of his life and shared many stories about growing up during the Depression and his fond memories of Washburn.
After working as a carpenter in his younger days and spending 20 happy years as a custodian with the Lowpoint-Washburn school system, he spent a contented retirement enjoying the opportunity to do more fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge 98 AF&AM in Washington.
At Frank's request, cremation rites have been accorded, with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Buckingham Cemetery in rural Lowpoint.
