Gary Brunner

MORTON - Gary W. Brunner, 76, of Morton passed away at 8:42 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born June 10, 1937, in Peoria to Samuel and Elizabeth (Folkers) Brunner. He married Joyce Lowry on July 26, 1964, in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Brunner of Morton; one brother, William (Glennis) Brunner of Metamora; one sister, Joyce Hillig of Bartonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Samuel Brunner; and his parents.

He served with the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959.

Gary worked as an HVAC maintenance technician at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 28 years, retiring in 1999. He previously was a longtime barber in the Bartonville area.

He was a member of the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Kewanee and the Buccaneers Drum & Bugle Corps, Peoria.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Cremation will be accorded following visitation. A graveside service with burial of the cremated remains will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria at a later date.
