George Ballard

WASHINGTON - George Ray Ballard, 83, of Washington, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 6:38 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at UnityPoint-Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

He was born on July 12, 1930, in Lawrenceville, Ill., to Samuel and Lena Snider Ballard. He married Evida P. Beede on May 10, 1959, in Reno, Nev.

Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Lyn (Stephen) Stanley, Gale (Terry) Hayes, Janet (Charles) Ingram, Julie (Steve) Firmand and Linda Saetana; and three sons, George (Darci) Ballard, Rob Ballard and Tom Thomas. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

His biological father; his mother; and his adoptive parents, Charles and Thelma Snyder; three sisters, Marie Lawrence, Jane Lenover and Lucille Pugh; and one brother, Carl Ballard, preceded him in death.

George served 17 years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for A.O. Smith Harvester in Eureka for many years.

Cremation rites have been accorded; and no services are scheduled.
