Gladys Alexander

MORTON - Gladys Robin Alexander, age 96, of Morton, formerly of Ithaca, N.Y., passed away at 4:07 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada, to Eugene and Harriet (Ingrouille) Robin. She married Ralph William Alexander, M.D., on Aug. 14, 1937. He preceded her in death along with one daughter, Anne Koehler.

Survivors include four children, Ralph William Jr. (Janet) Alexander of Rolla, Mo., Judith Robin (Lindsay) Goodloe of Ithaca, N.Y., Nancy Jean (Verle) Davison of East Peoria and David Wilson (Trish) Alexander of East Peoria; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In 1934, she received her R.N. degree from the Rochester School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y. Gladys enjoyed helping others as a public health nurse in Philadelphia, Pa., a school nurse in Ithaca, N.Y, and a volunteer at Englewood, Fla., Hospital.

She enjoyed traveling and bird watching.

She will be remembered as a sweet, kind and generous lady.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
