Hillion Hines

CHILLICOTHE - Hillion E. "Bill" Hines, 79, of Chillicothe passed away at 11:05 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Henry Earl and Catherine Parkinson (Coulson) Hines. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Charles and Nancy Bonner. He married Barbara L. McMullen on Sept. 3, 1955.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hines of Chillicothe; one son, Randy Hines of Columbia, Ill.; and two granddaughters, Erin Hines of St. Louis, Mo., and Caitlin Hines of Columbia, Ill. Also surviving are one sister, Maryann Weed of Chillicothe; one brother, John (Marge) Bonner of Peoria; one sister-in-law, Peggy Bonner of Peoria; one half sister, Earlon (Dexter) Page of Johnson City, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 9.

He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1986.

He was a member of the River City Blues Society and Pearce Community Center.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. A memorial service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, Ill., on Friday.
