PEORIA - J. Arthur "Art" Siegle, 81, of Peoria, a good man and beloved father, died at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Peoria to Arthur and Margaret Conway Siegle.
He is survived by his children, Larry Siegle of Peoria Heights and Laurie Hendricks of Peoria; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Lee) Hendricks of Avon, Ind., Nancy (Damien) Krakowiecki of Peoria and Bradley Siegle of San Francisco; his niece, Margaret Sulser of Galion, Ohio; his nephew, William B. Doyle Jr. of San Francisco; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; his daughter, Jeanne M. Siegle in 1996; and one sister.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean War, and also an Army Reservist for eight years.
Art was a graduate of Beloit College. He then worked with his father maintaining Siegle-Hunt Lumber in Peoria, a 78-year-old business, retiring in 2012. He was also a 59-year member of the Peoria Chamber of Commerce.
He was an active 57-year member of First Federated Church in Peoria, where he served as an usher and Sunday school teacher.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Cremation rites have been accorded, with an entombment of ashes in the Columbarium of First Federated Church at a later date.
