Janet Maher

Princeville - Janet M. Maher, 78, of rural Princeville died at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at her residence.

Janet was born on Nov. 25, 1934, in Kewanee, the daughter of Ward and Geneva Ham Marshall. She married James E. Maher on Sept. 25, 1955, in Kewanee. He died July 2, 2009, in Peoria.

Surviving are two sons, Pat (Drinda) Maher of Wyoming, Ill., and Joe (Gladys) Maher of Ramsey, Ill.; eight grandchildren, James Maher, Jenna Maher, Wes (Katie) Maher, Abby (Josh) Piper, Krista Maher, Andrea (Josh) Jahraus, Brianna Maher and Braden Maher; two great-grandsons, James Patrick Piper and Mason James Maher; and one aunt, Lois Castagna of Toulon, Ill.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen Marie Maher; a son, James Michael "Mike" Maher; a brother, Bill Marshall; and a sister, Marge Tuttle.

Janet was a registered nurse working at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She also did home nursing and volunteered with the Spina Bifida Clinic in Peoria.

She was a member and past president of the Illinois Angus Association Auxiliary, and a distributor of Shaklee Products for many years.

Janet was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Wyoming, and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Wyoming. Father Vien Van Do will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Wyoming Funeral Home in Wyoming, with recitation of the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Dominic's Cemetery in Wyoming.
