Joseph Fardel

PEKIN - Joseph E. Fardel Jr., 67, of Pekin, Ill., passed away at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, Ill.

Joe was born on Oct. 12, 1946, in Pekin, Ill., to Joseph and Clarine (Russell) Fardel Sr. He married Laura Rogers on May 12, 1966, in Palmyra, Mo.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Allen Fardel.

Surviving are his wife, Laura of Pekin; two sons, Troy Joseph (Theresa) Fardel and Joe Allen Fardel, both of Pekin; one daughter, Tonya (Kevin) Phillips of Pekin; seven granddaughters; one grandson; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one sister, Barbara Rumerfield of Lacon, Ill.

Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a welder at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 974.

Joe's two greatest passions were golfing and fishing. He was the horseshoe champion at the Illinois State Fair for many years.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive, in Pekin, with the Rev. Timothy Najpaver officiating. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
