MORTON - Kenneth Lockwood, 78, of Morton passed away at 11:57 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 19, 1935, in Oldham, England, to James and Doris (Cooke) Lockwood. He married Sheila Procter on April 4, 1959, in Chadderton, England.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila Lockwood of Morton; two sons, Philip Lockwood and Andrew Lockwood, both of Morton; one daughter, Janette Lockwood of Pekin; two granddaughters, Heather Lockwood and Nicole Lockwood, both of Morton; and one brother, Trevor (Angela) Lockwood of Royton, England.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ian; his parents; and one brother, Reg.
He served with the British Royal Air Force from 1956 to 1958.
Pursuing a new career opportunity, he and his family moved to Central Illinois in 1967, and he proudly became a United States citizen in 1982.
Kenneth was employed as a pattern maker at Caterpillar Inc. for 31 years. He retired from the Mapleton facility in 1998.
He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Morton. He also was a member of the Pattern Makers League of North America and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a former member of the Morton Highlanders.
Kenneth spent many years volunteering for the Illinois Valley Striders and Steamboat Classic and helped create the Peoria
. He served on the board of the Peoria Scottish-American Society.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Morton, with Fr. Brian Kellington officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
