GERMANTOWN HILLS - Marjorie A. Scherf, age 90, of Germantown Hills, Ill., passed away at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at her residence.
She was born April 25, 1922, in Decatur, Ill., to O. Frank and Alma (Johnson) Lee. She married Burl E. White on Nov. 7, 1941, in Peoria. He died in 1965. She then married Robert W. Scherf on Dec. 6, 1969, in Peoria. He died in 1996.
Surviving are her children, Carol Stickelmaier of Metamora, Patricia (Gary) Thewlis of Sevierville, Tenn., Roland White of East Peoria, Linda (Chris) Reinmann of Metamora and Chis (Jodi) White of Germantown Hills; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Richard Lee of Calabasa, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law.
Marjorie was a 1940 graduate of East Peoria High School, where she excelled in athletics.
She was former custodian of the Metamora Court House and owner, with her husband, of Germantown Well Drilling, where she was the bookkeeper.
She loved gardening, yard work and will be remembered as the lady who, on her Woods lawn mower, was seen mowing along Route 116 in Germantown Hills.
Marjorie loved her children and grandkids and was of the Christian faith.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Mason Funeral Home Germantown Hills Chapel with Father Neri Greskoviak. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary of Lourdes Cemetery in rural Metamora.
