Marjorie Spoon

METAMORA - Marjorie N. Spoon, 82, of Metamora, formerly of Washington, died at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at her residence.

She was born on March 4, 1931, in Benton County, Tenn., to Noah and Mary Luvinnie Jordan. Marjorie married James Spoon on Aug. 3, 1948, in Camden, Tenn., and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Mike) Kneer of Washington and Kathy (Doug) Springer of Germantown Hills; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Marjorie was a charter member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and was a great witness for God.

She spent 20 years working at Princess Peggy in Peoria as a seamstress, a trade she was very gifted in. After that, she spent her time as a homemaker, gardening, cooking and caring for her family. She also spent many hours creating and sewing clothing for her family and friends.

There will be a funeral service for Marjorie on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Jerry Miller and Pastor Steve Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at the funeral home and one half hour prior to service on Saturday. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
