Mary Anna Cox

PEORIA - Mary Anna "Annie" Cox, age 87, of Peoria passed away at 11:57 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria.

She was born Aug. 16, 1926, in New Boston, Ill., to Robert and Eileen Hays. She married Charles W. Cox on July 28, 1946, in Aledo, Ill. He passed away Nov. 17, 2010, in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brittany Jo; one brother, Robert Hays; and one infant sister, Vicki Hays.

Survivors include one daughter, Ann (Chuck) Oliver of Pekin; one son, Joseph Cox of Ballwin, Mo.; four grandchildren, Cassandra Oliver of Pekin and Lyndsey (Cory) Critchell, Ansley Cox and Jason Cox, all of the St. Louis area; two great-granddaughters, Avery Critchell and Fiona Cullen; and one sister, Virginia "Ginny" Hays of Monmouth.

Annie was the assistant department head of medical records at Methodist Hospital, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of the First Federated Church in Peoria and was an avid bowler and golfer.

Annie and her husband, Charles, were active members of Arrowhead Country Club in Chillicothe for many years.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Federated Church in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at church. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Entombment will be in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in Parkview Cemetery, following the services.

Memorials may be made to First Federated Church or the ICC Foundation Charles and Mary Anna Cox Family Scholarship fund.
