MARQUETTE HEIGHTS - Mildred "Millie" Rasbury, age 85, of Marquette Heights passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at 10:22 a.m. at her residence in the Heartis Village Nursing Center in Peoria.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and caregivers carried her through her courageous battle with Alzheimers and cancer. Even throughout her own struggles, Millie found ways to brighten the days of everyone around her.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1932, in Senath, MO, to Tillman and Cassie (Black) Golden. During her childhood, her family moved to Normal, IL, where she attended Normal Community High School. After graduation, Millie kept in close contact with her classmates. She attended monthly lunches with the group from her graduating class up until this past year.
She married Dean Scott on Nov. 17, 1956, in Bloomington, IL. They had three sons, David, Russell and Daniel. As a family, they enjoyed traveling many places, which include Wisconsin and California. Dean preceded her in death on July 9, 1985, in Peoria.
In addition to her first husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by her son, Russell Scott; her parents; two brothers, Jerry and Louis Golden; and one sister, Julie Golden.
She later married Earl Rasbury on Dec. 24, 1988, in Peoria. With Earl, she continued her love of travel and visiting family and friends. They especially enjoyed visiting Branson, MO, and seeing the shows. They attended Church of Christ Northwest in Peoria. Millie leaves behind many beloved members of her congregation.
Millie is survived by her husband, Earl Rasbury of Marquette Heights; and children, David Scott of Arlington, TX, Daniel (Lynette) Scott of Mapleton, IL, Vincent (Pat) Rasbury on St. Paul, MN, Karma (Danny) Brown of Saltillo, MS, Loren (Lorraine) Rasbury of St. Louis, MO, and Elston (Mary) Rasbury of Bartonville. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Baird of Normal, IL; one daughter-in-law, Angi Scott; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Millie was a homemaker and also worked as an office manager at the Peoria Stockyard Exchange for the Biederbeck Brothers, Inc.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Graveside services will be Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Parkhill Cemetery in Bloomington IL.
