PEORIA - Milton Charles Neul, 84, of Peoria passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at 5:40 p.m. at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
He was born July 25, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to Milton Clarence Neul Sr., a jazz musician, and Irene Alice Cesarz, a backup singer at the Green Mill during the Prohibition era. He married Laverne Swock in Chicago on Sept. 25, 1948. She died on March 24, 2007, in Peoria. He married Mary Denny on April 4, 2008, in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Robert C. Neul of Indianapolis, Ind., Gary (Deirdre) Neul of Evanston, Ill., and Charles M. Neul of Summit, N.J.; one stepson, Robert (Lesley) Denny of Las Vegas, Nev.; three stepdaughters, Pam Clancy of Louisville, Ky., Deb (Richard) Brownyard of Lincoln, Neb., and Kathy (Brian) Richards of Farmington, N.M.; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Stacy, both of Summit, N.J.; one brother, Robert Moore; and one sister, Patricia Ripkey.
Milton was employed at LeTourneau-Westinghouse, where he started as a draftsman, joined product planning and marketing and retired as the vice president of engineering.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a longtime member of the IVY Club, serving variously as commodore and treasurer. Milton was a former member of Holy Family Church and a current member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6801 N. Allen Road, Peoria, Ill. Visitation will be at Redeemer Lutheran Church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Pastor Joseph Meyer and Deacon Joe LaHood will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
