PEORIA - Myrtle L. Grier, age 89, of Peoria passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at her residence.
Myrtle was born April 1, 1924, in Paris, Texas, to Jack Ellis and Jessie Mae Marshall-Ellis, who preceded her in death. Myrtle had one loving brother, Clemon C. Ellis, who also preceded her in death.
Myrtle moved to Chicago and worked at a bakery for many years until she relocated to Peoria. In Peoria, Myrtle worked as a homemaker and was a dedicated foster parent who touched the lives of many children over the years.
Survivors include one niece, Lillie Ellis Goesmann of Chicago; one great-niece, Shonda Maria Goesmann of Chicago; one great-nephew, Ret. Master Sgt. Michael Anthony (Patsy) Goesmann of Evanston, Ill.; and a sister-in-law, Alline Ellis Alves of Chicago.
Myrtle was dedicated to Jehovah and was a longtime member of the Pleasant Hill Congregation, where she leaves behind many close friends, brothers and sisters that she loved, cherished and considered family.
Visitation will be at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at 9 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m., with Elder Oscar Wallace of Pleasant Hill Congregation officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Parkview Cemetery.
