Norman Catton

FARMINGTON - Norman E. Catton, 84, of Farmington, Ill., passed away at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria, Ill.

He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Peoria to Clarence and Nora (Rumbold) Catton. He married Sue Wilcox on July 2, 1955, in Canton. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are four children, Ann Catton of Farmington, Franklin (Linda) Catton of Yates City, Fredrick (Brenda) Catton of Cape Coral, Fla., and Elizabeth (Steve) Sweney of Avon; five grandchildren, Nikki, Amanda, Brianna, Joseph and Kaylee; and one great-granddaughter, Ella.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Gerald Catton.

Norman worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring in 1986 with 40 years of service.

He was a member of the Farmington First Baptist Church and Farmington American Legion Post 40.

He loved cars and Yankees baseball. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Norman was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Jon Dainty will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
