washington - Paul Wesley Carnell, 75, of Washington died at 12:15 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1938, in Gobbler, Mo., to John Hobart and Pearl Elizabeth Taylor Carnell. He married Sally Meredith in 1963. He later married Jeanie Tisdel in 1978.
He is survived by three daughters, Shari (Scott) Carroll of Pekin, Beth Carnell of Pekin and Magen (Chris) Meers of Peoria; one son, Paul David (Eric Olson) Carnell of Chicago; three grandchildren, Breanne Carroll, Alyssa Carroll and Mason Meers.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Paul served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He later worked 35 years for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria building SS as an electrician and also as an operations supervisor. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time boating on the Illinois River. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
There will be a memorial visitation for Paul on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Dr. Tim Najpaver will officiate. The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded.
