PEORIA - Mr. PeArthur Carter, 77, of Peoria, Ill., passed away at 9:19 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
PeArthur was born June 10, 1935, in Tillar, Ark., to Issiah and Pecola (Dixon) Carter. He married Annie Ruth Ingram in September 1981 in Kansas City, Mo.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 32 years, Annie Ruth Carter; seven sons, Thomas (Dana) Ingram of Peoria, Andre Carter of California, Carl (Natasha) Blunt of Peoria, Ricky Blunt of Kansas City, Mo., Henry Rainer of Las Vegas, Nev., Akiva (Jitane) Rainer of Peoria and Arthur Carter of Bolingbrook, Ill.; two daughters, Cassandra Carter of California and Monica Carter of Kansas City, Mo.; 28 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
PeArthur was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
He worked construction for many years. PeArthur was well known and loved as "Big Art" while he was a bus driver and custodian for District 150, also as being a foster grandparent with PCCEO.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Peoria Friendship M.B. Church, with a visitation one hour prior beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Claude Russell Jr., pastor, will officiate. PeArthur will be laid to rest in Camp Butler National Cemetery. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
