PEORIA - Rachel A. Clark, 92, of Meredosia, mother of a Peoria woman, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 24, 1918, in Meredosia, the daughter of Harry and Minnie Yeakel LeFever. She married Richard Lee Clark on March 22, 1936, in Winchester and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1983.
She is survived by one son, Ted (Nancy) Clark of Sherman; two daughters, Lenora "Lenny" Fischer of Peoria and Reba (Monty) Cloyd of New Berlin; 11 grandchildren, Joe (Jennie) Clark of Sherman, Kim (Jeff) Harford of Lynnville, Ind., Pam Clark of Chicago, Ric (Rhonda) Krupps and Tamara Krupps, all of Peoria, Brett (Delon) Krupps of Phoenix, Ariz., Stacey (Joe) Littlejohn of Auburn, Anita (Daniel) Edge of Springfield, Jeff (Heather) Clark of Smyrna, Ga., Chris Clark of Davenport, Iowa, and Nikki ( Michael) Rod of Littleton, Colo.; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Frank Clark (surviving wife, Sharon of Laveen, Ariz.); and two sisters, Naomi Lawson and Caroline Anderson.
Mrs. Clark was a 1935 graduate of Meredosia High School.
She was an active member of the Meredosia Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America and Meredosia Rebekah Lodge.
Rachel was a delight to know and love, always exhibiting a perfect appearance and graceful demeanor. She enjoyed her home in Meredosia, traveling and spending time with her family and extended family and friends. While raising her children, Rachel served as president of the band boosters, was a Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts leader and was nominated FHA "Mother of the Year."
She was a wonderful cook, had a special love for children and was a great animal lover. She had a passion for life and her kindness and generosity were felt by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
