CHILLICOTHE - Richard Lee Bussell, 73, of Chillicothe passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Cornerstone Nursing Home in Peoria Heights, Ill.
He was born June 6, 1939, in Sparland, Ill., the son of Harold and Ruth (Mullen) Bussell. He married Linda White on July 21, 1972, in Peoria, Ill.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years; two sons, Tracy L. (Krystle) Bussell of Canton and Bryan (Cindy) Bussell of Pekin; one daughter, Danielle (Brian) Mullens of Bellevue; his best friend, "Babe," his spoiled poodle; one brother, Donald (Joyce) Bussell of Streator; a cousin that was like a sister, Cassie Lambert (Martin) Krutke of Hudson; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents and grandparents.
Richard was a U.S. Army veteran.
He worked at Herschel Manufacturing for 9 1/2 years, where he met his wife, and worked at Caterpillar in Mossville as a painter for 31 years, retiring in 2005.
Richard was a member and deacon of Sparland First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th, at his church, with visitation held two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Elaine Bolen will officiate. Burial will be in Sparland Cemetery with military rites conducted.
