PEKIN - Richard Cohenour, 79, of Pekin, Ill., passed away at 11:34 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Dick was born on July 5, 1934, in Morris, Ill., to Edward R. and Gladys (Pfundstein) Cohenour. He married Ardyce Hornsby on June 29, 1973, in Morris. She died on Nov. 5, 2008.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Jeff; one brother, Robert; and two sisters, Betty and Patsy.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Barger of Topeka, Ill., and Karyn (Bryan) Dean of Pekin; two sons, Stephen (Carol) Kurtz of Pekin and Kevin Kurtz of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, Shannon Carle, Sharee Bargar, Ryan (Kristina) Sieh and Krista, Noah and Jacob Dean; and six great-grandchildren.
Dick was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was a data processing manager at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1993 after 37 years of service.
Dick was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pekin, fourth degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 44, Pekin Senior Golf League and Pekin Planning Commission and Zoning Commission.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Michael Andrejek and Monsignor Timothy Nolan concelebrating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Drive in Pekin. Following the visitation, the Knights of Columbus will have a chalice presentation, followed by a Rosary service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin with military honors.
