Robert Bireline

WASHINGTON - Robert S. Bireline, 95, of Washington passed away at 4:54 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.

He was born May 19, 1918, in Peoria to Frank E. and Emma Keye Bireline. He married Esther Pomerenke on Feb. 7, 1942, in Rock Island. She passed away Dec. 10, 2007, in Mesa, Ariz.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Karon (John) Roberts of Pickerington, Ohio, and Kathryn (Gordon) Gilomen of Peoria; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gilomen, Lisa (Kevin) Luoma, Melissa (David) Gudal, Eric Roberts and Beth Gilomen; and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Lane and Marin Luoma.

Robert worked over 40 years for Caterpillar in purchasing. He retired in 1979.

He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peoria and a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a graveside service at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is handling arrangements.
