Roger Arends

PEORIA - Roger Arends, 77, of Peoria passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center.

Roger was born July 5, 1934, in Peoria, the son of Edward and Garnet Trantina Arends. He married Bertha Hallor in Peoria on Jan. 28, 1955. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kelly Jo (Michael) Wroblewski and Tambria Jeanne Arends, both of Peoria; one son, Michael Eugene (Michelle) Arends of Germantown Hills; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Roger was preceded in death by one son, Mark Kevin Nik; one daughter, Susan Lynne Lord; and a brother, Laverne Arends.

He was a captain at the Peoria Fire Department before retiring after 33 1/2 years.

He was a member of the Kickapoo Archery Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation and Peoria Fire Fighters Retirees.

Roger was an avid bow hunter and devoted family man. He made sure all his grandchildren took hunter's safety courses and participated in youth hunts.

The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
