Ronald Aman

GERMANTOWN HILLS - Ronald E. Aman, 80, of Germantown Hills died at 10:23 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, in Clinton, Iowa.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1933, in Edwards, Ill., to William and Viola Fahey Aman. He married Jane Linden on Sept. 22, 1956, in Carlinville.

He is survived by Jane, his wife of 56 years; his children, Kim (Tim) Oliver of Germantown Hills, Scott (Andrea) Aman of Prophetstown; his granddaughter, Lindsey (Paul) Courell of Sacramento, Calif.; his brother, Terry (Carol) Aman of West Peoria, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving his nation during the Korean War. While serving in the Army, he was a fast-pitch softball pitcher, participating in the European Theater Championship game.

He worked as a planning supervisor for Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1988. He was a dedicated employee, passing other opportunities so he could work for Caterpillar.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, AF&AM and a former member of Mohammed Temple Shrine.

He was active in the Edwards and Kickapoo baseball teams and many other sports in the Peoria area, also working as a referee. He was pursued by several colleges to play for them in their sports programs.

He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services, with military rites, will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013, in Cottonwood Cemetery in Edwards. Pastor Ryan Gerbrandt will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Tazewell Military Rites Team. The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
