Ronald Farden

PEKIN - Ronald Allen "Ron" Farden, 48, of Pekin passed away at 4:17 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in the Pekin Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born April 3, 1964, in Peoria to Robert LeRoy Sr. and Alice Mae (Behm) Farden.

Surviving are his parents, Robert and Alice Farden Sr. of Pekin; one son, Branden Olds of Pekin; two brothers, Robert "Bob" (Angela) Farden Jr. and Richard (Lisa DeFoer) Farden, both of Pekin; one sister, Kimberly "Kim" (James) Pool of Manito; and stepgrandmother, Betty Behm of Hanna City. He also leaves a special friend, Debra Osmundson of Creve Coeur.

A 1982 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps for several years.

Ron worked for VOLT as a computer programmer at the Caterpillar General Office in downtown Peoria for the past three years, last working Friday. Previously, he worked as a computer programmer at State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington for eight years.

Ron was very passionate about reading. He enjoyed music, movies and collecting Marine Corps items and ink pens. He was a fan of the Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Cardinals and Elvis.

His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Marine Corps and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Cremation will be accorded after the funeral.
