Rosemary Bargmann

PEKIN - Rosemary Bargmann, 83, of Pekin passed away at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at her home.

Born March 12, 1930, in Knox County to Thomas and Charlotte (Francis) Eaker, she married Leo Donald Bargmann on May 18, 1947, in Piper City. He died Feb. 23, 2008, in Pekin.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Erica Dawn Fisher; four great-grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are one son, Donald C. Bargmann of Pekin; two daughters, Peggy A. (Michael) Fisher and Kristi L. Buff, both of Pekin; 10 grandchildren, Robin (Tom) Conlin of Pekin, Rodney Ashby of Delavan, Ryan (Kim) Ashby of Pekin, Sherrill (Andy) Kolvek of Morton, Beth (Gary) Geier of Washington, Jennifer (David) Harris of Pekin, Kelley (Jeff) Bradford of Morton, Andrew Buff of South Pekin, Jennifer (Brett) Landes of Los Gatos, Calif., and Jeremy (Hannah) Bargmann of San Jose, Calif.; and 19 great-grandchildren. She also leaves Al and Sharon Cochran, a special couple to the Bargmann family, who were her dear friends and neighbors.

Rosie worked for Hyster and was the first keypunch operator in Peoria in 1950. She then worked in computer operations for the Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis in Peoria. She last worked for McDonnell Douglas as an advanced computer programmer and finally as a customer service representative, retiring April 4, 1988.

She was a 50-year member of Celestial City Chapter 333, Order of the Eastern Star, in Pekin and was a past grand lecturer. She also was a member and former officer of the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 Ladies Auxiliary in Pekin.

Rosie loved the Cardinals and was fond of playing bingo.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Her funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Clint Bargmann, her great-nephew, will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City.
