WYOMING - Roy G. Bright, 75, of Wyoming died at 11:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at his residence.
Roy was born June 19, 1938, in Chicago, the son of Roy Sr. and Veda Clark Bright. He married Eleanor Dively and she preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Lisa Scheffert.
Surviving are his life partner, Jane Jaggard of Wyoming, her daughter, Melissa Beamer of Kirkersville, Ohio, and her granddaughter, Madison Rains. Also surviving are many friends that Roy considered family, Judy and Danny Behm; Jim and Kathy Behm; Linda Klobucher; Kari Klobucher; Dusty, Misty and Myah Dykema; Tim and Debbi Behm and their sons, T.J. and Cameron Behm; Becky Behm; Jim Nace; Scott Nace; and Nikki and William Lafferty.
Roy was a United States Army veteran. He worked as a policeman for the city of Peoria, retiring in 1988. He then went to work part time as a police officer for the city of Lacon, retiring from there in 2005.
He loved listening to old radio shows, and in 1968, he had a half-hour radio show called "Do You Remember These." Roy was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and he never missed a game.
Cremation has been accorded and a graveside service, with burial of ashes, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Snareville Cemetery in rural Wyoming. The Rev. Matthew Noffke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Wyoming.
