Ruby Holderness

ELMWOOD - Ruby I. Holderness, 88, of Elmwood died at 4:48 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Peoria to Robert and Ada (Brown) Black. She married Leo Gumbel in 1950. He died in 1971. She then married William Holderness in 1983, and he died in 2008.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are her stepdaughter-in-law, Judith Holderness of Sunnyland; and nephews, Norman Black of Toulon and Dale Black of Villa Grove.

She was a graduate of Wyoming High School and Dickinson Business College.

She retired from Rohn Manufacturing in 1987 as a bookkeeper.

She was a lifetime member of the Peoria Obedience Training Club.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. A graveside service will then follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
