PEKIN - Stanley H. Meyer, 83, of Pekin passed away at 7:28 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home.
Born on March 24, 1930, in Manito to Roy A. and Marie D. (Becker) Meyer, he married Laura Crafton on Oct. 23, 1954, in Macomb. He later married Arlene J. (Pecora) Heine on Nov. 14, 1992, in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Stanley Craig (Debby) Meyer of Bloomington and Douglas (Marsha) Meyer of Peoria; one stepson, Michael (Tracy) Heine of Pekin; one stepdaughter, Michelle Norris of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Justin Meyer of Pekin, Robin (Angie) Meyer of Monmouth, Nichole (Kevin Burlin) Meyer of Bloomington, Brittney Meyer of Indianapolis, Ind., Laura Meyer, Douglas Meyer, and Christopher (Kayla Ribicki) Heine, Paul Heine and Chelsea Norris, all of Pekin; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Lou Van-Antwerp of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Rodney Meyer and Rick Meyer; one infant brother, Clifford Meyer; and one infant sister, Patty Lou Meyer.
He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Stan farmed in the Spring Lake area for many years, retiring in 1998. He also sold real estate for Olt & Griffin in Pekin for 11 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pekin and the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. He was a former member of the Sunset Hills Country Club in Pekin, Ducks Unlimited, Pekin Moose Family Center No. 916, and Pekin Elks Lodge No. 1271.
Stan enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a Chicago Cubs fan.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle and Pastor Robert Finley will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and also from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, both at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
