PEKIN - Darwin Dean "T-Bone" Ewers, 92, of Pekin passed away at 5:56 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Pekin Hospital.
He was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Mason City to William and Lois (Yardley) Ewers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lois Johnson; one brother, Robert W. Ewers; and a niece, Diana L. Arrenholz.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Bill) Conarro of Pekin and Carolyn Hamm of The Colony, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jeff Logue of Pekin, Paul (Kris) Peacock of Lexington, Scott Seelye of Celina, Texas, Bill Seelye of Texas, Crystal Foster of The Colony, Texas, Kyle Johnson of Broomfield, Colo., and Karen (Brock) Burnett of Chillicothe; and 19 great-grandchildren.
T-Bone was a World War II Navy veteran and lived most of his life in Pekin. He worked as a real estate agent for more than 10 years and had previously worked at Hiram Walker's in Peoria. He also worked as a starter at Parkview Golf Course and at Quail Meadows Golf Course in Washington.
T-Bone was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching any type of sporting event. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs. In his later years, he really enjoyed playing hearts with his friends at Five Points Washington.
He was a 62-year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, of Pekin.
His visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for the health needs of his great-grandson, Evan.
