Ted Schumacher

TOLUCA - Ted L. Schumacher, 65, of Toluca died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at his residence.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca, with Father Hans officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Wenona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca, with a prayer service to begin at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to the Toluca Ambulance Fund, American Diabetes or the Mid-Illinois Talking Book Center, 600 High Point Lane, East Peoria, IL 61611.

Ted was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Spring Valley, the son of Russel A. and Betty L. (Taylor) Schumacher. He married Monica L. Krischel on June 12, 1971, in Streator. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Betty Schumacher of Metamora; a son, John (Christine) Schumacher of Toluca; a daughter, Judy (Dan) Schmidt of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Hannah and Matthew Schumacher and Maxwell and Ella Schmidt; a brother, Ray (Vicki) Schumacher of Toluca; and three sisters, Sue (Chuck) Kern of Metamora, Lora (Greg) Volkert of Edwards and Gail Booker of Tremont; and several nieces and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Ted attended St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca. He was a past board member of the Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau and was member of the Toluca Sportsman's Club.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Toluca American Legion Post 440.

Ted farmed in the Toluca area his whole life. He loved farming, spending time with his grandkids and working with his horses. He was a dedicated husband and a loving father and grandfather.
