Vivian was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Peoria to Edith Robertson Jones, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Alfred Guth. She married Michael Uzelac in Peoria on Oct. 8, 1955; he preceded her in death in 1990. She later married John Mellor in Peoria in May 1998, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Surviving are her children, Pamela Uzelac, East Peoria, and Michael (Kristine) Uzelac, Germantown Hills; stepchildren, Rick (JoAnne) Mellor; grandchildren, Colleen (Casey) Baird, Michael Uzelac, Vincent Uzelac and Kayla and Kari Uzelac; stepgrandchildren, Nate Mellor, Adam Mellor and Jake Mellor; great-grandchildren, Vivian and Colin Baird; and son-in-law, Carl Swanson.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Swanson; brothers, Robert Jones and Lewis Jones; brother-in-law, Robert Uzelac; sister-in-law, Josephine Jones; and her parents.

Viv was an avid fisherwoman and believed (and was) better than most professionals. In addition to her fishing skills, she was quite the card shark and built up a hefty bank account with her family's money.

Vivian was well known for her witty sense of humor. She had a certain spark about her, which made her love for life contagious to all who knew her.

Her family looked to her for wisdom and strength and she was an ideal role model. "They broke the mold" when God made Vivian, and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Vivian will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Springdale Cemetery, Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to TAPS no-kill shelter or to Illinois Cancer Care in Peoria.

Vivian's memorial website is available at www.deitersfuneralhome.com, where condolences may also be sent to the family.
